Internet Safety-One of the most popular topics, this workshop will give teachers/parents/students resources that will to help students be safe on the internet. Games in Education-Yep, we said it! Learn how to use games to engage and teach students. From online role playing games, to offline games, studies show a high potential for engagement and learning with the right game for your curriculum. Digital Cameras and Storytelling-Quickly and easily create content online. Learn how to quickly create a story using pictures or video using installed programs, online applications, digital cameras, and video cameras. (PhotoStory3, MovieMaker, Storybird?, Animoto, etc.) Microsoft Office--You already own it, but are you using it as well as you’d like to be? Excel for art? Or for study guides? Or quickly update your PowerPoint games from one Excel page rather than individual PowerPoint slides? What about making PowerPoint interactive or use-able with multiple mice? Do your Word documents look professional? They can with the tool set within Word. What about adjusting and tweaking pictures, or making a wonderful movie----Microsoft tools will to that, and chances are you already have them on your computer. Looking At Student Work—This workshop is designed to give educators new ways of looking at student work, ways that emphasize: 1) teachers looking together at student work with colleagues, 2) focusing on small samples of student work, 3) reflecting on important questions about teaching and learning, 4) using structures and guidelines ("protocols") for looking at and talking about student work. This is a research based model that is we’ve used in our grants with wonderful results. Technology Integration via Marzano’s Instructional Strategies—Technology with a purpose! If you have the tools, let’s make sure that their use is rooted in sound instructional theory so that it is meaningful not just “cool”! A workshop can be focused on any of the strategies, or multiple workshops can combine tech tools with many strategies. If your district emphasizes the use of Marzano’s Strategies, then this is the workshop you want. Differentiating Instruction with Technology—Technology has the potential to meet the learning needs of some students that are the most complicated. Kids respond differently to technology, so utilize its power effectively. We will address tech tools from the vantage point of Bloom’s, Marzano, Gardner and others and your teachers will come away with specific ways to integrate tech to differentiate their instruction. Having secured more than $1 million in grant funds in the past 10 years, we are here to write for you. It’s a common obstacle to tech integration that our Curriculum Coach is incredible in helping your staff overcome.
